Unlocking UK Growth: Building the Lower Thames Crossing

Lower Thames Crossing Consortium hosted an impressive range of speakers, lively debate and great networking with a sellout audience at an event last Wednesday evening (25/03) in the Terrace Pavilion, House of Commons.

Jim Dickson MP for Dartford, welcomed senior political figures, including Simon Lightwood MP Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Roads and Buses (pictured), industry leaders and businesses, to highlight the national growth opportunities presented by one of the UK’s most significant economic infrastructure projects.

Predicted to add billions to the economy, the Lower Thames Crossing is a key part of the Government’s Plan for Change. By doubling road capacity across the Thames east of London, the crossing will strengthen freight resilience, improve connectivity between key ports and regional economies, and unlock new opportunities for jobs, skills, and investment.

The evening included a panel discussion exploring the project’s impact on the national, regional, and local economy, plus the benefits it’ll deliver for UK businesses and the infrastructure sector.
