We are looking for a motivated individual with experience in housing conditions to join our Housing Standards Team. The work will include dealing with housing complaints, licensing and inspection of Houses in Multiple Occupation. This will include the assessment of conditions and property management against minimum legal standards. The officer will also support the day-to-day enforcement work of the team and undertake a range of work to bring empty properties in the District back into use. The successful applicant will have an excellent eye for detail, a logical problem-solving approach and be willing to learn and study to improve their expertise. The postholder will be supported to develop a sound knowledge of housing legislation associated with the work by colleagues and the Housing Standards Lead Officer. We always aim to provide the highest standards of customer service and the successful applicant will need to have the full range of communication and organisational skills to manage a diverse and demanding workload. A full driving licence is required for this post and the nature of the work means that the postholder will be prepared to work outside normal office hours.
